Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta says Lionel Messi’s penalty miss was the only ‘sour’ point to their 2-1 win over Manchester City on Tuesday evening.

Two first half goals from Luis Suarez gave Luis Enrique’s side a two-goal lead, whilst Sergio Aguero’s second half strike meant the tie is still not over heading into the second leg in March.

Barca could have put the tie beyond Manuel Pellegrini’s side with a late penalty but Leo Messi saw his spot kick saved by Joe Hart, before headed wide of the gaping goal.

Iniesta, captain for Barca on the night, lamented Messi’s missed penalty,  but stressed his side bounced back in good style after a defeat to Malaga in La Liga last weekend.

“Except for the penalty, which was unfortunate, we’re very happy with the Manchester result,” he is quoted as saying by AS. ”

“But we leave with a good feeling. It was important to put in a good showing after the defeat against Magala on Saturday.

“Man City also had their chances, but we did a good job. They will be more dangerous at Camp Nou. We need the same concentration.”
