Manchester United are planning a £60m move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this summer and are confident in landing the Uruguayan international.
The former Napoli striker is unsettled in France after failing to impress boss Laurent Blanc and revert to his more favoured role through the centre of the pitch.
Links to a number of top European clubs have been reported in recent months with United said to be leading the list of potential suitors.
We understood earlier this year that United are unwilling to pay the full amount for Cavani and therefore see it easier to sign Radamel Falcao and then use him as bait.
The Daily Star now claims that a source close to the Old Trafford club has told them they are fully confident of making the move happen.
A source told the paper: “Edinson Cavani has been targeted as the big-name striker the club wants and United are confident of pulling it off. He has not settled in Paris and is looking for anew challenge at another big club, so United fit the bill.”
