Milan chasing Argentina hitman

Lavezzi

AC Milan are reportedly plotting a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi as an alternative to Verona hitman Juan Iturbe.

According to Italian source TuttoSport, the San Siro giants are on the verge of missing out to champions Juventus in the race for Iturbe, and have wasted no time in pursuing other targets.

Argentina international Lavezzi, who is still on World Cup duty and could feature in this weekend’s quarter-final clash with Belgium if striker Sergio Aguero is still injured, has two years remaining on his contract.

He provides crucial flexibility in the final third of the pitch as he is capable of operating on both flanks or through the centre, often as a secondary striker.

Lavezzi is no stranger to Serie A, having been a star performer for Napoli before his switch to the Ligue 1 heavyweights two summers ago.

The report also reveals that Milan are weighing up an offer for coveted Torino forward Alessio Cerci, who featured in Italy’s unsuccessful World Cup campaign.

However, they face stiff competition from the likes of Inter Milan and Roma, while a Manchester United source told Football Express News they also remain keen on the 26-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
