Liverpool and Tottenham prepare surprise bid for Arsenal striker

Liverpool and Tottenham are preparing a surprise bid for Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom, according to the Daily Star.

The 19-year-old striker is highly-rated at the Emirates Stadium, however has failed to receive a consistent break into the first-team as of yet.

The Star understands that Manchester City and Everton are also eyeing a move for the London-born striker.

Akpom finds himself way down the pecking order at Arsene Wenger’s side, with Olivier Giroud, Danny Wlebeck, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott all ahead of him.

Akpom spent time on loan at Sky Bet Championship Brentford and Sky Bet League One side Coventry City in 2014, making 10 appearances in total.

Liverpool arguably need the striker more than all the other teams linked, and are in need of a striker who can add an element of firepower to the club.

The 6ft striker has failed to secure a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, which is subsequently alerting fellow Premier League sides to his availability.
