SPECIAL: World Cup winner For Sale – Sami Khedira

In the second of our January Transfer Window Special’s, we take a look at Sami Khedira of Real Madrid, who is linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea & Manchester United.

Why is he for sale?

Sami Khedira will be allowed to discuss terms with another club come January 1 as his current contract with the Spanish giants is due to expire on June 30, 2015.

His current value as of www.transfermarkt.co.uk is estimated to be £26.4m, but with his contract running down, it is expected that Madrid will not ask for that amount.

Who is interested?

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United have all been interested in the German World Cup winner, with Arsenal the front runners, having attempted to use the likes of Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski to tempt the midfielder into moving to the Emirates stadium.

Meanwhile, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also keen, plus Borussia Dortmund have been linked in the last few days, with a potential swap deal for Marco Reus reported.

What does he bring?

Khedira predominantly plays in defensive midfield, but he has played further forward for Real Madrid in the past. His 53 caps for the German national side give him much heralded experience.
