Liverpool contact Rodgers alternatives, including De Boer

Liverpool have made contact with several alternatives to replace current boss Brendan Rodgers.

Failure to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League on Tuesday evening further compounded Rodgers’ Liverpool to a dismal start in all competitions this season.

Their Premier League record has been poor to say the least, struggling to score goals and gain wins after injuries to Daniel Sturridge and the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer.

The Northern Irishman’s job is now on the line and a number of potential replacements have already been touted by the Merseyside club.

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, Zenit St Petersburg’s Andre Villas-Boas and former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, are firm favourites to replace Rodgers.

However, Football Express understands that Ajax boss Frank de Boer is also on that list and positive talks have already begun between the former defender and Anfield bosses.
