Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli hits out at media claims

Mario Balotelli has hit out again at the British press over a number of stories regarding his form, lifestyle and more.

The 24-year-old has faced heavy criticism for his performances at Anfield since arriving this summer, whilst his private life has also been attacked since returning to England after a spell back in Italy with AC Milan.

“I know that if people like or don’t like me, they will read what is written about me,” Balotelli told BeIN Sports.

“The press must sell newspapers and have to write funny or stupid stories. People don’t want to read: ‘Mario is at home with his daughter’. They want to read: ‘Mario broke his car’. So they lie and say stupid things because people read them.”

The Italian striker has scored two goals in 14 games for Liverpool, but despite his lack of goals; he firmly believes he can improve.

“I know that score is very important for a striker. I remember when I was young, I played 20 minutes and I scored a goal. The fans loved me. Today I play, I don’t score, but fans still love me,” said the forward.

“It’s great from Liverpool fans. I really appreciate [their support]. When I go again to score, I think it will be 80 per cent because of them. Because they have always believed in me.”
