Arsenal’s injury problems mount through Wilshere and Gibbs

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere will miss the Gunners’ clash with Burnley this weekend, whilst Kieran Gibbs could also miss out.

The England midfielder had been expected to return from suspension against Sean Dyche’s side but a niggling knee problem which he sustained in training earlier this week will now see him miss out.

“There is a slight problem with Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs has a test,” he told reporters. “He [Wilshere] got a kick on his knee, it is very, very short-term.”

Defensively, Wenger is without Laurent Koscielny, Mathieu Debuchy and has been forced to play Nacho Monreal at centre back.

“There are a few uncertainties, like Kieran Gibbs,” Wenger said. “Apart from that, everyone should be available.

“Wilshere is back from suspension. Gibbs is a hip problem. He is a doubt but we’ll know more tomorrow.”
