Manchester City midfielder David Silva could miss the Manchester derby after limping off against Newcastle United in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
With key matches coming up for City against rivals Man United and CSKA Moscow in the Champions League next week, Silva’s injury against Newcastle has now caused panic amongst the club’s coaching staff and boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The Spanish midfielder was involved in a collision with Ryan Taylor which resulted in the former Valencia man hurting his left knee.
Silva received initial treatment on the field for the injury, but was forced to leave after failing to recover.
Silva has scored twice for the Premier League champions so far this season but it now looks extremely likely he will miss Sunday’s game with United.
