Pellegrini: I continue to trust my players

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists that he still trusts his players despite losing 2-1 to West Ham United on Saturday.

The Premier League champions could do very little to beat Sam Allardyce’s lively West Ham side on Saturday, with goals from Morgan Amalfitano and Diafra Sakho cancelling out David Silva’s late striker.

However, City boss Pellegrini claims that he still has trust in his players and will wait to see what Chelsea can do in terms of the title race.

“I continue to trust the group of players,” he told reporters. “We’re in a good position, there’s not any target we can’t achieve at the moment. I am always concerned about my team, what other teams can do is not my concern.

“We will see what Chelsea can do. We have 87 points to fight for. The pressure is exactly the same as the first game.”

The former Malaga boss did concede that City must get better and admitted that his side’s second half display was much better.

“I always say that when we concede goals we can do better,” he said.

“Today also we missed two or three clear chances in the other box. Of course, you try to play the same way in the whole game, that’s not always possible, there’s a lot of things that change in the 90 minutes.”
