Arsene Wenger has hit back at Per Mertesacker’s claims that Arsenal need to ‘train harder’.
The Germany international hit out at his fellow team-mates for their indifferent start to the season, complaining about the style of football and poor fitness.
However, Wenger has hit back at his defender’s claims and insisted that his players ‘train hard enough’, before claiming that his side had not been ‘efficient enough’.
“I don’t know what he meant by that. But you have to be careful with statements after the game. I think we train very hard, the attitude is right and the spirit is there,” Wenger told reporters.
“Until now we have been relatively consistent in our attitude but not efficient enough offensively or defensively.
“We lost only two games but we have not made enough points.”
