Mourinho pleased to win without Diego Costa

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is delighted his side beat Crystal Palace without the free scoring Diego Costa.

Spanish international Diego Costa has been in superb form since arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer, scoring nine league goals in his first seven games but he was unavailable to face Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Oscar and Cesc Fabregas were enough for Mourinho’s side to remain top and unbeaten in the league, and the Portuguese coach has spoken of his delight after the result.

“Winning without Diego was great,” he told reporters.

“There is a general feeling that our team is improved because of Diego and Fabregas and it’s right and it’s true and it’s fair to say that.

“But at the same time this team had a big improvement. We can think the game, control the game, cope in different moments of the game in a completely different way.

“Last year my team was naive. We couldn’t cope with certain moments of the game so we’ve worked, worked, worked and at this moment I’m happy.”
