Former Chelsea defender wants to face Lampard

Roma defender Ashley Cole is hoping to line up against his former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard on Wednesday night when his side face Manchester City.

Cole, who like Lampard – left Chelsea this summer when his contract expired is currently enjoying life in the Serie A with Roma and will face Lampard’s new club – Man City on Wednesday night.

And, the former England international is hoping to line up against his former team-mate.

“It will be nice to see [Joe] Hart and Lampard. I didn’t expect to play against him and it will be nice if we are both in the starting line-up.

“Am I surprised Lampard is at City? Not really. We all know that City are a great team and when he scored against Chelsea he was doing his job.

“In Europe, everyone knows how big City are. They are champions and have great players like [Yaya] Toure, [Sergio] Aguero and now Lampard, who are known throughout the world. We’ll see how it goes.

“If we win of course it will be much more difficult for City to progress from the group stages.”
