Pardew hoping to turn Newcastle fortune around

Alan Pardew is hoping his side can improve on their poor start to the season and end fan protests.

Last weekend’s 4-0 defeat to Southampton saw Newcastle United remain bottom of the Premier League and increase fan pressure on boss Alan Pardew.

Protests are set to reach boiling point this weekend when Pardew’s side face Hull City, with whom he was involved in controversy with last season.

But, the English boss wants his players to produce a good result and end what he calls ‘mass hysteria’.

“The situation at the moment is almost like mass hysteria,” he commented. “It has really gone to a level which makes it really difficult for the players to perform in.

“I’m hoping we can turn that around. I don’t expect it to be easy.

“It has been suggested that I don’t care about this position as I’ve got a long contract and I’m going through the motions.
