Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is considering a move for free agents Joseph Yobo or Diego Lugano in a bid to strengthen his defence.
Having lost new signing Mathieu Debuchy to injury last weekend, Gunners boss Wenger is keen to add one more defender to his squad in the coming weeks and has identified both Joseph Yobo and Diego Lugano as possible signings.
Both are available on free transfers after leaving Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion respectively.
It is expected that either of the two defenders could be signed on a short term deal until January when Wenger is expected to spend more cash in a bid to further improve his defensive options, hoping to replace Thomas Vermaelen, who departed for Barcelona this summer.
Further reports claim that Lassana Diarra, is also close to joining the North London side after becoming available on a free transfer, leaving his role at Lokomotiv Moscow.
