TV Star lashes out at Wenger for ‘defying Arsenal fans’

Arsenal v Fenerbahce SK - UEFA Champions League Qualifying Play-Off Second Leg

Outspoken TV presenter and journalist Piers Morgan has lashed out at Gunners boss Arsene Wenger for not signing a Giroud-replacement in haste, following Arsenal’s 1-1 away draw to minnow side Leicester City today.

Morgan, who is an Arsenal supporter, reacted to what he deemed a very poor result against Premier League newbies Leicester and bestowed blame onto the Arsenal manager for leaving the Arsenal front-line with limited options.

His reaction made reference to the fact the Frenchman has not yet signed a striker to replace last season’s key goal-scorer Olivier Giroud, who is absent from the side on long-term injury absence.

The Pier’s Morgan Life Stories presenter took to social media platform Twitter to convey his very forthright message to Wenger:  “Sign. A. Bloody. Striker. Wenger. Every single Arsenal fan knows we need a top class striker & CDM. If Wenger refuses to buy them, he is defying the whole fan base. #afc”

Arsenal looked promising early on in the first half with their £32m summer signing Alexis Sanchez opening the scoresheet in the 20th minute, giving the Arsenal fans something to celebrate. But, only for a short while, as Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa scored the equaliser just two minutes later.

Leicester held the Gunners to a 1-1 draw with a solid defensive display at their home ground and during the second half of the game, appeared the more dominant side of the two, with the greater number of chances.
