Redknapp unhappy with QPR players

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has attacked his players following their 1-0 League Cup defeat to Burton Albion on Wednesday evening.

Redknapp was left angered after his Premier League side went out of the League Cup to Gary Rowett’s League Two side on Wednesday evening, hitting out at his players for what he called ‘poor’.

The former Spurs boss made several changes to his side and included the likes Junior Hoilett, but it was Adam McGurk’s strike in the second half that produced a shock result.

“I’m bitterly disappointed,” Redknapp told QPR’s official website. “We were poor. Really, really poor. You’ve got to have quality in any competition and we didn’t have any.

“Fair play to Burton, they were excellent. “[But] I gave players an opportunity hoping they would take it but they just didn’t deliver.

“I picked a strong team with plenty of experience on paper. But it wasn’t a good team because we didn’t turn up. Plenty of players were poor and didn’t take the opportunity we gave them.

“I gave players a chance that had been walking round with the hump all week. I gave them a chance to show what they could do and they showed me what they couldn’t do.”
