Tottenham Hotspur have signed Argentine centre-back Federico Fazio from Spanish side Sevilla for a fee reported to be in the region of £8m.

The versatile 27-year-old, who stands at a whopping 6’5” tall, spent seven seasons with the La Liga club. He captained the side and played mainly as a centre-back but sometimes as a defensive midfielder.

To Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is also from Argentina, Fazio brings a wealth of winning experience gained from his time at Sevilla having won the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Europa League and the Copa del Rey with the Spanish side.

Fazio may not have built himself the recognition of being be a big name player but is highly-rated by former AS Monaco CEO Tor Kristian Karlsen, who was once dubbed the lofty defender ‘one of the most talented centre-backs’ on social media platform Twitter.

Already set to make waves in the Premier League, the Argentine’s arrival is stoking up rivalries between Spurs fans and supporters of west Londoners Chelsea – owing to the fact he once had a run-in with Chelsea striker Diego Costa when Costa played for former club Atletico.

The pair got physical during a match, with Costa giving the defender a grab and shove in the face and Fazio retaliating with a sneaky thump in the stomach. The video below is currently going viral and Spurs and Chelsea fans alike are eagerly anticipating a bit of fiery chemistry between these two over the coming months.
