Napoli chase Arsenal target

Taarabt

Napoli have entered the race to sign Queens Park Rangers attacker Adel Taarabt, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

Il Mattino claims the Serie A outfit are ready to make an offer, which could start at the £4.5million mark with the addition of add-ons.

Despite Napoli’s interest the 25-year-old, who has 24 months remaining on his current contract, could yet end up at another English club.

A source close to Arsenal told Football Express News the Gunners are monitoring the situation closely and may test the water with a bid for the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man in the coming weeks.

The enigmatic Moroccan spent the second half of the 2013-14 campaign on loan at AC Milan, where he scored four goals in 16 appearances.

It seems Milan have cooled their interest since replacing head coach Clarence Seedorf with Filippo Inzaghi, who is believed to have other targets in mind to bolster his much-maligned squad.

Napoli are confident that QPR will happily sell the forward despite managing to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking after winning last month’s Championship play-off final against Derby County.

He remains one of the highest earners at Loftus Road and the London club could trim their wage bill by offloading him.
