Juventus force Everton to cancel Lukaku announcement

Football Express News understands that Everton were forced to cancel a proposed announcement for the signing of Romelu Lukaku, due to last minute interest from Juventus.

The Belgian striker has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, despite his impressive form at Goodison Park last season, scoring 15 league goals.

And, following the World Cup in Brazil where he represented his country, Lukaku has received plenty of interest, with the possibility of a move back to Everton seeming extremely likely.

Negotiations between the Toffees and Chelsea took big steps over the weekend and fans of the Merseyside club were anticipating an announcement early this week.

However, it is now understood that last minute interest from Italian champions Juventus has seen Chelsea up Lukaku’s asking price to £30m and seen the young striker debate where he would like to play his football next season.

Juve are keen to improve their attacking options and see Lukaku as the perfect option to challenge Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez for a starting place.
