United and Liverpool encouraged to bid for Reus

Manchester United and Liverpool have been given fresh hope in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus after his agent refused to rule out a move.

The Germany international’s representative, Dirk Habel, gave an interview to Bild in which he admitted that it is “normal” for his client to attract attention from some of the biggest clubs in world football.

He revealed Reus is currently focused on recovering from the injury which ruled him out of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, but did not dismiss the notion of the wideman switching clubs before the transfer window slams shut.

He said: “Mark would make an already strong team stronger.

“It is absolutely normal that a big club would be interested in him. At the moment, however, his priority is to recover from injury.”

The 25-year-old was forced to sit out his national side’s campaign this summer due to an ankle injury picked up during the build-up tot he tournament, which Joachim Low’s side ended up winning.

He is said to be stalling on a contract extension which has been placed on the table by the Bundesliga heavyweights, and his hesitancy will only serve to offer his suitors more encouragement.

Liverpool hope to edge out bitter rivals United in the race to land Reus, because they can offer him Champions League football.
