Liverpool hold positive talks with Man City over winger

Football Express News understands that Liverpool have held positive talks with Manchester City over the signing of James Milner.

The English international has been linked with a move away from the Etihad stadium this summer, despite reportedly being offered a new contract extension with the Premier League champions.

Liverpool see Milner as the perfect player to add experience and quality to their midfield and want the former Aston Villa winger to provide competition with the likes of Raheem Sterling for a starting place.

It is understood that following Brendan Rodgers’ advances, Milner is keen to push through a move in the coming weeks and begin the new Premier League season at Anfield.

The 28-year-old made just 11 league starts for City last season and is expected to further miss out next season, should he stay at the club.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers this weekend.
