Ex-United star: Time to move on from Juventus saga

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez insists the Serie A champions must move on from the shock resignation of head coach Antonio Conte.

Popular boss Conte, who led the Turin heavyweights to three successive Scudetto titles, resigned just one day after the start of pre-season training.

The 44-year-old is thought to have held crisis talks with the hierarchy just hours before his exit amid concerns that midfield man Arturo Vidal would be sold to Manchester United.

However, he made no reference to a disagreement in his statement to the club’s website, and simply thanked Juve and their fans for the support they provided.

He has since been replaced by ex-AC Milan chief Massimiliano Allegri and former Red Devils man Tevez says it is time to focus on the next chapter.

He told foreign reporters at a pre-season press conference: “We still have to prove that we can play like a team which has won many championships, through the power and work of the coach.

“We have to be stronger to prove to be Juve.”

Conte is now one of the front runners to take charge of Italy, with the national side closing in on Cesare Prandelli’s successor following a torrid World Cup campaign which ended at the group stage.
