Southampton accept Liverpool’s Lovren bid

Lovren

Football Express News understands that Liverpool have had their £16m bid for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren accepted.

The Croatian defender has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield this summer after consistently good performances for the Saints last season and following negotiations on Sunday morning between both clubs, it is now understood that the centre-back will make the move.

Lovren will now begin talks with Liverpool over terms but it is fully expected that he will accept the Reds offer on the table, after handing in a transfer request.

Southampton, who have already sold Luke Shaw [Man United], Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana [Liverpool], were at first reluctant to sell their prized central defender but Lovren’s request to leave has changed the Southern England side’s stance change.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is on a summer spending spree at present and is ready to splash the cash recouped on selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Alberto Moreno of Sevilla is also expected to arrive in the coming days, meaning both the young Spaniard and Lovren could be presented at the same time.
