Deulofeu thanks Everton for loan spell

Gerard-Deulofeu

Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu has thanked Everton and said that he is glad to have spent one season on loan with the Premier League side.

The young winger joined Everton last summer and enjoyed a fruitful season on loan at Goodison Park, learning under the guidance of former Wigan Athletic boss and Spaniard Roberto Martinez.

Reports had claimed the winger would remain with the Merseyside club for another year, but Barcelona officials believed his form was worthy of a first team place this coming season and he will now battle it out with Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar for a starting place.

Speaking during a press conference, Deulofeu was quoted as saying: “Until you go somewhere else you do not know what you’ve got at Barcelona.

“I learned a lot at Everton and I am now looking forward, I really enjoyed it at Everton and I am left with the feeling of having played a few minutes.

In England I improved my physical side and on the defensive. I am glad I spent a year at Everton.”
