Mancini eyes Premier League return

Roberto Mancini is likely to return to the Premier League after today’s exit from Galatasaray, Football Express News understands.

The Italian has parted company with the Turkish club having failed to lead them to domestic title glory last term, when they finished nine points behind champions Fenerbahce.

He did lift the Turkish Cup in his first full season at the club but there has been constant speculation about his future and he is once again a free agent after leaving two years before the end of his contract.

A source close to the 49-year-old told FEN Mancini believes he has unfinished business in England after being sacked by Manchester City last summer.

He still feels it was a harsh decision by the Blues, who he led to the Premier League title in 2012 for the first time in their history as well as the FA Cup 12 months earlier.

The Wembley triumph against Stoke City ended City’s 35-year wait for a piece of silverware, earning Mancini legendary status among the supporters.

He will now be considered one of the front-runners to take the helm at Southampton, who are still searching for a successor to Mauricio Pochettino, who is now in charge at Tottenham Hotspur.
