Football Express News understands that Everton are set to announce the signing of Bosnia and Herzegovina star Muhamed Besic.

Roberto Martinez became a keen admirer of the youngster following his performances for his country in the World Cup this summer, where he faced Nigeria, Argentina and Iran in the group stages.

The 21-year-old, who can operate on the pitch, either in midfield or defence has been playing for Ferencvaros and has gained interest from a number of other European clubs such as Spanish side Sevilla.

However, it is understood that Everton were willing to pay the £4.5m asking price and have agreed a deal with both club and player.

Besic started his career with Hamburg in his native Germany but chose to represent Bosnia at international level as his parents are Bosniak.

Starting at Hamburg, the 21-year-old made three senior appearances for the Bundesliga side before making a move to the Hungarian league.
