Stoke target Barcelona striker

Bojan

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is working on a loan deal which would bring Barcelona forward Bojan to the Britannia Stadium for the 2014-2015 season, according to The Stoke Sentinel.

Hughes is said to have long-since admired the 23-year-old Catalonia international forward and the two are reported to have met in the UK this week to undertake discussions of the proposed temporary transfer.

Bojan is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy and made history at the age of just 17 when he became the youngest ever Barcelona fledgling to break into the first team without first served a loan period elsewhere.

With stiff competition in the likes of superstars Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, and today’s breaking news – the Barcelona’s sensational acquisition of Luis Suarez – the La Liga giant’s forward-line is awash with world class talent and Bojan, who spent season on loan to Dutch Erdivisie side Ajax, has (and will continue to) struggle to get a look in at Barca if he stays in the Catalan capital.

Hughes is hoping to tie up a loan deal over the coming days to make Bojan the latest addition to his Stoke attack force and should the move take place he will join newbie playmaker Steve Sidwell, who signed to the Potters last month from Fulham following the Cottagers’ relegation to the Championship, and Senegalese striker Mame Biram Diouf, who has joined from the German Bundesliga on a free transfer.
