Xherdan Shaqiri set for Stoke in £12m deal

Xherdan Shaqiri looks set to join Stoke as Inter Milan agree £12million fee for the tricky winger.

The Swiss International has been linked with several premier league clubs, including Everton, who have been making inquiries with Milan about a potential move to Merseyside over the past few days.

Stoke, however, have outbid the toffees and reached an agreement with Inter Milan, offering £12million to secure the midfielder. It is reported that all the potters need to do now to complete the deal is persuade him to make the move to the Britannia Stadium.

According to The Mail Online, Stoke have been interested in signing Shaqiri for some time, with Mark Hughes tracking the 23 year old for the past year.

Should Shaqiri join Stoke, he would become their record-breaking signing with his hefty £12million price tag; but they will need to fight off competition from Everton who are still tracking the midfielder, despite the offer.

Shaqiri has been best known in Italy for his speed both on and off the ball, creating his reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous wingers. He only made the transfer to Inter Milan in January this year but still made his mark at the club as well as impressing internationally, scoring a respectable 15 goals in 42 appearances for Switzerland.
