Man United target subject to £13m Arsenal bid

Arsenal are lining up a £13 million bid for Zenit and Argentina centre-back Ezequiel Garay, according to reports.

The 28-year-old had been a long-term target for Manchester United before moving to Russia, but is now desperate to leave the club and Arsenal have emerged as favourites to make a move.

United boss Louis van Gaal, who is said to be a long-term admirer of the Argentine defender, has been long linked with the former Benfica defender but reports claim he is to be trumped by Arsene Wenger.

Garay is desperate to leave Zenit after failing to adapt to life in Russia and has instructed his agent to pursue a move to England, where he has ambitions to win the Premier League title.

United have seemingly moved their interest elsewhere after links to Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi.
