Manchester United have warned Sergio Ramos they will not be used as part of any move to gain a better contract at Real Madrid.

Links between United and Real Madrid have been ever present in the past few months as a number of players have been linked with a move between the two.

David De Gea is the most mentioned player to be linked with a move as the Spanish giants continue to make him their number one target and top replacement for Iker Casillas.

As pace is gathering between Madrid and United officials over a potential move, Sergio Ramos’ future is being heavily discussed, leading to links with a move to Old Trafford.

The Spanish international is said to have become unhappy with the appointment of Rafael Benitez at the Santiago Bernabeu and wants to leave this summer.

United are keen and reports claim they have told Madrid that De Gea can leave if Ramos is included in such a deal.

However, they have also told the World Cup winning defender that they will not be used as a means to him gaining a new and improved deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It is understood that United officials want to make sure Ramos is genuine in his desire to leave the Spaniards before they make a solid move.
