Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford is keen to remain at the club and prove his ability to Jose Mourinho, reports The Times.

The 21-year-old was in superb form last season for Championship side Middlesbrough and voted the Player of the Season for England’s second league.

Bamford has since been attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides, who are keen to pursue a similar one-year loan deal which Boro made last summer.

However, Chelsea and Bamford are keen to keep their relationship going and the latter has indicated a desire to impress boss Mourinho.

It is understood that Mourinho has instructed officials at the club to tie him down to a five-year deal, rather than run the risk of allowing him to leave on a free next summer, due to his contract expiration.

Crystal Palace, Everton and Southampton are also said to be keen on making an offer, whilst the striker rejected talks with Newcastle United earlier this week.
