Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is keen to overturn both Shola Ameobi and Brede Hangeland’s departures from the club.

Palace announced via their official website on Wednesday that they had released the veterans after contract expiration but both are now said to be in talks over a new deal.

Jerome Thomas, Peter Ramage, Stephen Dobbie and Owen Garvan were also released but are not on talks to return.

Ameobi spent six months at the club after following Pardew to Selhurst Park from Newcastle United, whilst Hangeland arrived last summer.

Both have failed to break into the starting eleven but it is understood new deals of one-year length have been offered to the ageing duo.
