Chelsea defender rejects Real Madrid move

Chelsea defender Filipe Luis has rejected interest from Real Madrid, according to Marca.

The Brazilian joined the Blues last summer from Atletico Madrid, together with Diego Costa, but while his teammate has enjoyed a brilliant debut season England, the defender struggled to make an impact.

Luis was forced to play second fiddle to Cesar Azpilicueta, and it appears he is hoping to return to Spanish La Liga.

It is known that that the defender notified his former team-mate and close friend Joao Miranda of his desire to leave Chelsea, but it is understood that he has rejected a move to Real Madrid in the past few days.

Prior to joining Chelsea, the Brazilian had spent four very successful years at Vicente Calderon, making 127 La Liga appearances and it is now understood that he will return for the exact same price the Blues paid last season.

Luis arrived in London for a figure of £15.8m last summer, but according to Transfermarkt.com, the defender’s value has not de-valued, making him available at the same price.

With his displays over the past few seasons earning him many plaudits as was a key player in Atletico’s successful season in which they won the La Liga and got to the final of the UEFA champions league.
