Bayern Munich duo reject Man United deals

Bayern Munich defender Dante and Bastian Schweinsteiger have rejected the chance to join Manchester United, Football Express News understands.

German magazine Kicker reported this week that the Red Devils had made a serious move for Brazilian defender Dante after stalling on a move for Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi.

United boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to improve his centre-back options, having had to rely on the likes of Tyler Blackett this season.

Dante is highly rated by the German outfit and is unlikely to leave for a cheap price, but United believe they can entice the Bundesliga champions to sell after submitting a ‘huge’ bid for both the defender and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The latter is expected to leave the club this summer after spending his entire career at the Allianz Arena and has been linked with a move to the likes of Chelsea in recent months.

However, it is understood that both have rejected the chance to join the Old Trafford outfit but are willing to listen to further negotiations.

Van Gaal is a big fan of the German World Cup winner, having coached him whilst with Bayern.
