Atletico Madrid want Diego Costa and Mauro Icardi as their front-two next season, according to Marca.

The former Spanish champions lost their momentum in the race for the La Liga title this season after struggling to replicate the form of last term.

Diego Costa, whom they sold to Chelsea last summer played a big part in their 2013/2015 success and reports of his unhappiness at Stamford Bridge have led him being linked with a return to the Spanish capital.

The Brazilian-born Spanish international is said to have told the English champions that he wants to return to Spain due to the weather and lifestyle in London.

A deal therefore could materialise, but it is also reported that the Spanish club want to secure another striker mentioned in the same breath as Chelsea.

Mauro Icardi has been strongly linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side in recent months, but Atletico boss Diego Simeone has instructed his officials to make a summer move for the Argentine striker.
