Vieira set for Newcastle talks

Patrick Vieira is expected to hold talks with Newcastle United about becoming their new manager.

The Frenchman is currently managing Manchester City’s under 21 side and could leave the post when his contract runs out this summer.

He has been linked with the Magpies who secured Premier League survival after a final day 2-0 victory over West Ham United.

Despite keeping Newcastle in the top flight, current boss John Carver is widely expected to leave the role after overseeing 8 consecutive losses last season.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has reported that the North East club want a young and hungry coach to take the club forward next season.

Vieira has rich pedigree as a Premier League player which saw him win three titles at Arsenal and captain the celebrated unbeaten side of 2003-2004.

I think this would be a good appointment for Newcastle as Vieira possesses many leadership skills and qualities needed to succeed as a manager. He is someone that would command respect and would be a figure that could galvanise a weak dressing room.
