Real Madrid line up move for Sterling

Real Madrid’s proposed new manager Rafael Benitez wants to make Raheem Sterling his first signing

The Liverpool midfielder has expressed a desire to leave Anfield this summer after refusing to enter contract talks.

Benitez is set to be appointed Real manager next week after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked earlier this week following a season of disappointment at the Santiago Bernabeu and is a huge fan of the young English winger.

Sterling has turned down a £90,000 a week offer from Liverpool as he wants to play regular Champions League football.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also expressed an interest, whilst Arsenal have been keen, but Benitez’s Liverpool connection will put the Spanish side in pole position to complete a move.

Writers View: I think Sterling will definitely leave Liverpool this summer. I think more English players should play abroad. Raheem is certainly capable of playing for one of Europe’s elite.
