Coleman: Bale should reject Man United move

Wales manager Chris Coleman has called for Gareth Bale to resist the urge to leave Real after the heaps of pressure landed on him by the Madrid fans and Spanish media.

This comes after reported interest from Chelsea, who are supposedly lining up a £150m for the player.

The last few months have been tough for Bale, with many tipping him to leave the Bernabeu over the summer. Coleman disagrees, and feels Bale should stay and fight for his place at Real. Speaking back in March Coleman said;

“He should stay where he is. Chelsea are a huge club and have been successful, as are Manchester United – but Real Madrid is Real Madrid.

“He’s good enough to win the big trophies, play on the big stage and play with the biggest club.

He has since explained that Bale’s game is suffering because his team-mates “do not pass the ball to him”.

It’s clear Coleman is fully in Bale’s corner, and it’s clear to him that the Wales star is something of a scapegoat amongst the Madrid faithful.

“I watch all of Gareth’s games and I can tell you as manager you do not look at just one player,”

“But there is so much focus on him that if he makes one mistake it is a big deal. If he fails to find Cristiano Ronaldo with a pass and Ronaldo reacts and makes a gesture it gets blown up.

“I have watched many games where Ronaldo has been poor, Isco has been poor. They paid a lot of money for James Rodriguez and there is not a lot coming from there, but it is Gareth who is getting it.”

But Coleman doesn’t think this will affect his Madrid future and has called for his talisman to stay right where he is.

“Unless Gareth wants to leave, which I don’t think is the case, then I don’t think he’ll go anywhere.

“He’s worked hard enough to get to arguably the biggest club in the world, why would he want to leave?

It is arguably the biggest club on the planet. I don’t really see him wanting to move, no.”

Gareth Bale himself took to twitter dropping a huge hint this week that he intends to fight on at Madrid saying…

“Not the end of the season we had hoped for, we always want to win trophies! We will be working hard in the off season and looking forward to coming back next season with @realmadrid #HalaMadrid

This won’t have come as a surprise to Coleman, who highlighted Bale’s temperament and desire back in March.

knowing Gareth, I’d be really surprised if he said ‘I’ve had enough, I’m not accepting that and I’m coming home.

“I don’t think he should come home, I think he should stay where he is.

“In my opinion he’s good enough to win trophies with Madrid and entertain at Real Madrid at the highest level.

Coleman was talking ahead of Wales very important Euro 2016 qualifier against Belgium in June, where Bale looks set to win his 50th cap.

Writers View: There is no doubt Gareth Bale is one of the best players in the world, but I genuinely think that English players find it a lot more difficult abroad than foreign players coming to England.

The language barrier is always a problem. A lot of countries speak English but not vice-versa.

He was a big fish in a smaller pond at Spurs, but now he’s in a team of superstars at Real, he’s finding it difficult to stand out.

He struggled at Tottenham at first, and until Harry Redknapp got a tune out of him, he looked destined to leave White Hart Lane. He’s made his way back from before and I think he’ll do so again.

But from a purely selfish viewpoint, I’d love to see Bale back in the Premier League. United or Chelsea look to be the likely destinations if that happens.
