AC Milan have revealed they have been watching Atletico Madrid striker Mario Manzukic this season, and would like him to sign for them in the summer.

The 29-Year-old Croatian forward, had previously joined from Bayern Munich, and has only been at Atletico for one season but it is expected that he will depart the Spanish side this summer after interest from a number of clubs, including Premier League champions Chelsea.

Mandzukic has been one of European football’s top finishers in recent seasons and he has continued that in La Liga, scoring 20 goals in all competitions for the Spanish capital side.

AC Milan are in desperate need to add fire power to the forward line and General Manager – Adriano Galliani has spoken of the club’s desire to sign Mandzukic.

“I am meeting some Atletico directors,” he said in an interview from AS.

Meanwhile, Atletico are looking to improve their attacking options and seem helpless to keep the Croatian. A failed bid for Paris Saint Germain’s Edinson Cavani has seen them move back in for Tottenham Hotspur’s Roberto Soldado and Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez.

Writers View: I son’t really believe this would be a step forward in Mandzukic’s career, as Atletico have qualified to play in the Champion league, finishing 3rd. Whereas Ac Milan have lost there way in Serie A finishing mid-table.
