Tottenham are ready to hijack Newcastle’s move for Barcelona attacker Sandro Ramirez, according to Sport.
Newcastle United had agreed a deal in principle with Barcelona, according to some reports last week but following concerns from the Catalan side about their Premier League status, a deal now seems to be off.
Ramirez has been playing a bit part role for the Barca senior team this season, making limited appearances whilst playing regularly for their B-side in the second division.
He has impressed though when given the chance, scoring a vital goal against Villarreal earlier in the season, before netting against Ajax in the Champions League group stage.
With the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez ahead of him in the Barcelona pecking order, Ramirez is now set to find playing time elsewhere and is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur after contact between the two clubs was made over the weekend.
Ramirez could also be joined by young star Adama Traore, but Spurs officials are yet to discuss that option.
