Liverpool have been suggested to be keen on signing Southampton captain Jose Fonte, according to reports.
The 31-year-old has had an impressive season so far with Saints, with Premier League rival clubs now looking to secure his consistently good performances.
And reports say Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing Fonte to Anfield, with the Reds keen on deal as they consider a replacement for the out going Steven Gerrard.
Manchester United are also touted to be eyeing the midfielder, but they’re focused on other targets and Liverpool could move in for a summer deal.
Signing Fonte could help bring the best out of former Saints teammate Dejan Lovren, with the pair impressing together in the past.
Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool team are currently fifth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 62 points, with Southampton in seventh on 57 points.
