Manchester United and Chelsea have been handed a transfer blow to sign Koke as the player has insisted he will play for Atletico Madrid next season.

The midfielder has been long linked with a move to the Premier League, with clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea showing a keen interest in him.

Atletico are reportedly planning contract talks to increase the 23-year-old’s release clause from his current £46m to £100m in a bid to ward off interest from other clubs.

But the Spaniard looks to have made a decision on his short-term future already.

“Yes, I will play here,” he told AS when asked if he were 100% certain of his future.

Atletico Madrid are currently sat in third in the La Liga, also looking set to have another campaign in the Champions League next season and Koke was asked to rate their season out of ten so far.

“I’d give out season a nine out of ten if we finish third,” he said.

“We got to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. And if we finish third we will have achieved our goals. And we will finish third.”
