Arsenal have been reported to offer Joel Campbell plus cash to sign William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon, according to reports.
The defensive midfielder has attracted attention from a host of clubs, but reports in Portugal suggest Arsenal are lining up a player-plus-cash deal to land his signature.
Campbell, on loan at Villarreal having failed to establish himself in the Arsenal first-team, could be on his way to Portugal for a season, and it has been suggested the club are already in talks with the player’s agent.
The Portuguese club will be looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season, and the idea of taking on the Costa Rica international for free for the year, as well as bringing in a fee for Carvalho with him going the other way, could be one that is appealing to officials.
The deal has been suggested to cost the Gunners in the region of £28.8m to bring the midfielder to the Emirates.
