Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has told Sky Sports News HQ that the Gunners need to spend big in the summer if they are to challenge Chelsea to the Premier League title next season.

Arsenal secured Champions League football yet again this season, after an excellent 3-1 win at Hull City on Monday night – but according to Parlour – the north London club must spend big this summer to compete with title winners Chelsea.

“Arsene Wenger definitely needs to buy players and during the summer is going to be very important. Arsenal need to keep their nucleus of players and also bring in some more quality in certain areas to really challenge Chelsea”, said the ex-Arsenal midfielder.

“Petr Cech may be available in the summer and he’s the sort of goalkeeper you have to be looking at. The centre-half position must be looked at as well. An old Tony Adams if they could find someone like him or a John Terry.

“And a central midfielder to strengthen right down the spine – someone like Morgan Schneiderlin… that’s the sort of player I would be looking at if I was Arsene Wenger.”
