According to the Daily Telegraph, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been given the green light to table a record-breaking £100m bid for Real Madrid’s Welsh star Gareth Bale.

Bale has been linked with a move back to English football this season, and if the Wales international wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the summer, the Red Devils are ready to break the bank to secure his signature.

The 25-year-old arrived in Spain in a record-breaking £83.7m deal from Tottenham Hotspur in September 2013. He has since gone on to play 87 times in all competitions, scoring 39 goals. Bale also played a huge part in Real Madrid’s 2014 Copa del Rey and Champions League double.

The Madrid supporters have been getting on Bale’s back this term, and rumours have suggested the ex-Spurs man is unhappy in Spain.

Louis van Gaal is said to be a huge admirer of the Welshman, and the reports that he’s being handed a £100m war chest will be music to the Manchester United fans’ ears.
