Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has been left frustrated after his side’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday.

The former Manchester United striker has guided Stoke to an impressive season thus far and is edging closer and closer towards his target of 50 points, but a ‘frustrating’ performance against relegation battlers Sunderland on Saturday left Hughes displeased.

He is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: “We’re a little bit frustrated. We conceded a poor goal but after that I thought we were excellent, with a lot of chances and good play.

“In the second half they pressed us at the back and we needed to show more desire to get on the ball. We still had any number of chances but you have to put them away and today we didn’t have that end product.

“I went with an attacking side today because we wanted to put them under pressure early… which we did after the goal. It takes us a point closer to our 50-point target.”

Meanwhile, under pressure Black Cats boss Advocaat said that his side did all he asked at the Brittania stadium and is pleased with the point.

“The first half, Stoke were the better team and we were lucky it was just 1-1. They didn’t create a lot but they had the ball and we were running behind it,” The Dutchman told reporters.

“We played a little differently in the second half and it worked well. We had two 100% chances and didn’t score but every point for us is very important.

“Results have not worked in our advantage today so we have to do it by ourselves next week.”
