Marseille veteran-defender Rod Fanni has emerged as a surprise summer target for Liverpool.
While Brendan Rodgers has not been afraid of spending since he took the helm at Anfield, spending over £200million on players since 2012, he has also proved he likes a bargain.
When Rodgers brought Kolo Touré to Anfield there were certainly a few raised eyebrows but with Touré available on a free transfer, he brought invaluable experience to the club without the added price tag.
However, with Touré reportedly leaving the club this summer Rogers has lined up a similar move.
Marseille defender Rod Fanni is also available to snap up on a free transfer this summer as his contract comes to an end. The French international would also bring with him excellent experience as well as providing fantastic and reliable cover to the Liverpool back four.
While this transfer won’t steal the headlines this summer, it may well be a fantastic piece of business for Liverpool.
