Manchester City have identified three potential replacement for Manuel Pellegrini this summer, including former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

Pellegrini’s time at the Etihad stadium is set to end after a poor season which has resulted in the reigning Premier League champions falling short in both domestic cup competitions, the Champions League and title race.

A defeat to Barcelona in the last-16 of Europe’s top club competition and recent defeats in the Premier League which have seen them fall short of leaders Chelsea, now leaves City looking for a new boss.

And, it is understood that the club have named three men on their shortlist.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is one of those, whilst Napoli’s Rafa Benitez also appears.

But, the favourite now seems to be Jurgen Klopp, who has announced that he will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Klopp is expected to be followed out of Signal Iduna Park by a number of top names, including Marco Reus, who City have made moves to sign previously.
