Swansea City transfer target Andre Ayew has commented on his love of Liverpool – after admitting his desire to play in the Premier League.

Ayew has been linked with a switch to the Premier League for some time, having previously been approached by QPR.

But although a move never happened for the Marseille man, the 25-year-old has admitted there is still mutual respect between himself and the Premier League – and with one club in particular.

“All my life I have been a Liverpool fan,” Ayew told Sky Sports.

“When I was young I was watching the Liverpool games.

“Steven Gerrard is my favourite player. It will not be easy to see him leave in the summer, but we all need a new challenge.

“I have had a lot of different offers from different countries, but I will have to discuss with Marseille.

“I will make a decision soon, and look at the offers that are coming in and decide what is best for my future.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world today, and it would be an honour play there.

“I talk to a lot with my friends who have played there. Samuel Eto’o, Alex Song, Samir Nasri, Joey Barton have all given me great advice about the Premier League.

“I am still in contract with Marseille, so I cannot give names of clubs, but there has been contact.”

Swansea City are currently eighth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 47 points, with Liverpool in fifth on 57 points.
